Xscape

Jermaine Dupri discovered Xscape in Atlanta and signed the female R&B quartet to his So So Def imprint. Comprised of Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, and sisters LaTocha Scott and Tamika Scott-Byas, Xscape set off the '90s with their debut disc, Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha. The singles “Just Kickin’ It” and “Understanding” became urban radio mainstays. Their follow-up 1995 album Off the Hook was greeted with similar success. After the 1998 disc Traces of My Lipstick failed to capture their previous acclaim, the group split ways. A brief comeback attempt in 2005 was met with a tepid response.
