Beanie Sigel

Beanie Siegel (born Dwight Grant) gained popularity as a member/artist of Roc-A-Fella Records. In 2000, he dropped his chart-topping debut album, The Truth. After spending time behind bars (Siegel was hit with drugs and weapons possession charges in 2004) and the acrimonious split of Roc leaders Jay-Z, Dame Dash and Kareem “Biggs” Burke, the Philadelphia rapper branched off to the Dame Dash Music Group where he released an album. Soon he moved on to Roc-A-Fella — only to depart from that label years later. He’s also known for his roles in the films State Property and its sequel, as well as for forming the eponymous Philly-based rap group. Siegel released his latest album, The Time, just weeks before he reported to jail to serve a two-year prison term for tax evasion in September 2012.
