G Unit

As 50 Cent rose to prominence, he formed G-Unit Records and the crew of the same name.  He recruited his Queens, New York, protégés, rappers Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. They flooded the scene with mixtape music before releasing their multiplatinum 2003 debut, Beg for Mercy. 50 Cent added, and split with, several new members along the way, including West Coast rapper The Game, Memphis emcee Young Buck, fellow Queens veterans Mobb Deep and singer Olivia and others. While many former members publically beefed with 50 Cent before breaking from the group, the core has remained 50 Cent, Yayo and Banks.
