John Legend

With a full, rotund voice reminiscent of jazz singer Bobby Short, this nine-time Grammy winner is renowned as one of R&B’s most creative forces. Born John Stephens in Springfield, Ohio, he attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he led a vocal group. Hired by Lauryn Hill to play piano on her hit “Everything is Everything,” Legend also worked behind the scenes with Kanye West and Jay-Z before coming into his own as a solo artist. He has sold over 5 million albums to date, and most recently recorded the album Wake Up in collaboration with The Roots.
