Lauryn Hill

At the top of her game, Lauryn Hill had it all. As an actor she had early success, appearing on the soap As The World Turns, and in films like Sister Act 2 and Hav Plenty. As one third of The Fugees, she helped The Scoresell 17 million copies worldwide. She topped that with her classic 1998 debut album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, winning five Grammys, including Best New Artist. Unfortunately, the songstress dropped out of the public’s eye shortly afterwards, turning down movie roles and feeling used and abused by the entertainment industry. After taking a hiatus to raise her five children with Rohan Marley, Ms. Hill returned on the scene for the 2010 Rock The Bells Tour to perform classic hits like “Doo Wop” and “Lost Ones.” In 2012, Hill pled guilty to tax evasion for failing to pay her federal income taxes and served a three-month prison sentence in 2013. She was released on October 4, 2013. In 2015, she contributed her voice to the soundtrack for the documentary What Happened, Miss Simone?, based on the life of legendary singer. Having recorded six tracks for the project, this marks the most music she has released since 1998’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
