Marvin Sapp

Marvin Sapp, who calls himself a preacher who happens to sing, is the senior pastor of Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in his native Grand Rapids, Michigan. He began his career as part of the gospel group Commissioned, which released their first album, I'm Going On, in 1984. He released his first solo project in 1996 and had breakout success with 2007's gold-selling Thirsty, which won him seven Stellar Awards and spawned the huge single, "Never Would Have Made It," which sat atop the Gospel Songs chart for 47 weeks. His 2010 album Here I Am debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at #2 — the highest charting album ever for a gospel artist.
