Mentored by rock funkster Rick James, Marie signed with Motown in 1979 and enjoyed a healthy run of hit albums including Lady T, Irons in the Fire and It Must Be Magic. Her hit parade of singles included “Behind The Groove” and “I Need Your Lovin.” Marie recorded for Epic records from 1983 to 1990, and in the 2000s she signed with the rap label Cash Money Records before passing away in 2010.
