Treatments and overall quality of life for people living with HIV has improved enormously over the past three decades, since the disease’s discovery. Breakthroughs in treatment over the years have made it possible for people living with the virus to live long, happy, normal lives, as long as they keep to a regimen of medication and regular doctor check-ins. Unfortunately, many people remain misinformed about the virus’ improved impact on people’s everyday lives, while others still believe negative stereotypes about people living with the virus. These stereotypes and misconceptions can take a toll on those living with HIV.

In this video, people living with the virus dispel some of these stereotypes and misconceptions in an effort to better educate the public. They talk about the changes in treatment options, address misconceptions about those living with HIV, and share what day to day life is really like for them. They are proof that a normal, healthy life is possible for people living with the disease today.
