If Mary J. Blige has her way, she might be the new kid on the block at Howard University this Fall.

The Grammy-Award winner recently revealed during Essence Music Festival that she would be attending Howard University this fall.

Blige announced receiving her GED on ABC's Good Morning America program and hinted Howard University was in her sights. The singer said the university accepted her to attend next semester.

While Howard officials are pleased with Blige's choice, her admission process isn't a done deal. “We encourage Ms. Blige to continue her studies and welcome her consideration of Howard University in the future,” school officials said. "We are happy to work with Ms. Blige on completing the formal process for admission.”

Mary J Blige's reps have yet to comment on her interest in Howard University.
