Toya's NOLA Family: Reunion, Rehab and Reconciliation
Antonia "Toya" Carter is back in the NOLA for a noble cause: to reconnect with her family, and to save her mother, Anita, from a life-altering addiction to drugs. Toya rallies her brothers and sisters to the cause, but she realizes that Anita must make the final decision on her own.
Meanwhile, Toya and her oldest brother, Walter, get into a heated argument about his street lifestyle enabling their mother to use drugs. Walter complains about Toya's absence in their mother's life and says that the money Toya was sending Anita for her rent was really just helping to fuel her drug habit. After the argument, it becomes even more apparent that Walter and Toya really don't know each other.
Walter is the oldest out of the crew, having been born to their mother when she was quite young. He just came home from a 10-year stint in the big house, and he's trying to regain the years he lost and rebuild the relationship with Toya that he never got to have.
By the end of this dramatic premiere episode, the family unites to take Anita to rehab, hoping that this last attempt to help their mother kick her drug habit will work. The good news? Anita finally has the desire to make it happen herself.
Will the doctor's recommended 30-day in-house treatment drive Anita to run from rehab? Will Walter and Toya finally reconcile their differences and unite as a family? And what's this about Casey having a baby, when he's just growing out of adolescence himself?
Tune in next week on #ToyaTuesday, April 19, at 10pm/9pm central to find out!
