Kevin Hart Says The World Should Stop Judging Will Smith’s Oscar Slap Of Chris Rock

“People make mistakes, and from mistakes they should be allowed time to recover,” he said on "Drink Champs".

In the world of understanding the relationship dynamics between actors and comedians, Kevin Hart has one of the most credible perspectives one could have. So when he was recently asked about Will Smith, and his proverbial Oscars slap of Chris Rock, Hart said the public should let it go.

Sitting down with Revolt’s Drink Champs and co hosts N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, the actor and comedian was asked during a round of Quicktime or Slime, where guests have to reveal who they rock with more between two celebrities or take a shot of liquor, Hart was asked who he'd choose between Ice Cube or Will Smith.

“Dark times deserve f*****g great light. I’m not going to s**t on my brother. They both are my brothers, but I’m not going to take time to s**t on them. I’m going to say Will Smith and here’s why: Will Smith is not only a legend, he’s not only a GOAT…” Hart said before NORE interrupted him to call Smith was “a gangster” in light of the Oscars slap.

“Those are your words, not mine,” Hart continued. “Will Smith is the reason why the idea of African Americans [are] attached to global IP is normal. Studios took the gamble on more leads of color because of the work that Will Smith, Denzel [Washington] were on in the beginning. You need the faces that are giving universal return. I’m not going to s**t on Will and act like he wasn’t that guy.”

Hart also noted that Smith, who spoke publicly in July about striking Rock during the 2022 Academy Awards since back in March, should be allotted time to work things out with Rock.

“People make mistakes, and from mistakes they should be allowed time to recover. And that this is no longer the world’s problem,” he said. “It’s Will and Chris’ problem, and let them deal with that. The world should step out of it.”

Also during the interview, Kevin Hart spoke about standup comedy, reflected on his movie career and more.
