Common is adding yet another acting credit to his résumé. He will star in Hell on Wheels, a period drama slated to air on AMC. The show centers around the story of a Confederate soldier seeking revenge on the Union soldiers who killed his wife. “It’s about the building of the Transcontinental Railroad, so it takes place in 1865 and I get to play a freed slave,” Common said in an interview on Los Angeles' Power 106. “It’s kind of like a Western, but there’s all these issues going on today ... I actually had to audition to go through the process, but it was well worth it.”
