Tyler Perry's Upcoming Film Will Scare You
The Madea film you never knew you were waiting for is finally on its way. Tyler Perry announced the next installment in his signature character's adventures, and this time she'll be fighting ghosts and zombies.
Perry and Lionsgate announced Tuesday that production has begun in Atlanta on Boo! A Madea Halloween. The media mogul will once again play the title character, who “winds up in the middle of mayhem when she spends a hilarious, haunted Halloween fending off killers, paranormal poltergeists, ghosts, ghouls and zombies while keeping a watchful eye on a group of misbehaving teens.”
The inspiration for this latest Madea film came from an unexpected place, according to the press release: Chris Rock. The comedian made a joke about a fictitious Madea movie in his 2014 film Top Five. Soon after, Lionsgate approached Perry and suggested that they make the movie.
No word on whether Rock has any further involvement with the production, but we'll be keeping our fingers crossed for a cameo. Boo! A Madea Halloween is currently filming in Atlanta and hits theaters on October 21.
