Yes, a Three 6 Mafia Reunion Is Happening

The Academy Award-winning trio is back for another one.

This might be the year of reunions, because guess who’s linking back up? Three 6 Mafia.

Yes, you read it right. Three 6 Mafia are making strides to reunite after an eight-year hiatus after their 2008 album, Last 2 Walk. The crew has been active since the early ‘90s with the stapled height of their career single, “Stay Fly,” from platinum album Most Known Unknown. “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp,” co-written by Frayser Boy for the 2006 box-office hit Hustle & Flow, made Three 6 Mafia the first hip-hop group to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song and the second to win an Oscar. You’ve got to pay homage to the credentials.

During the hiatus, members of Three 6 Mafia have had a lot of solo success, more notably Juicy J. “Bandz a Make Her Dance” was his platinum 2012 single that also contributed to Rihanna’s hit, “Pour It Up.”

So, what’s in store you ask? Crunchy Black chopped it up with Murder Master Music Show, stating Juicy J sparked the string of potential reunion shows. “A lot of people want to see us three back together doing shows,” he says, “so we finna do a couple shows.” Will there be an album? SoundCloud releases? It will work itself out as Black states, “We don’t know how far it might go.”

All the best to Three 6.
