WTF: Bill Cosby Compares Himself To Nelson Mandela In First Statement Since Guilty Verdict

Following last week's verdict that Bill Cosby has been found guilty on all three counts of felony indecent aggravated assault against accuser Andrea Constand, the fallen comic is speaking out for the first time, revealing that he is mentally preparing for his potentially extensive prison sentence.

However, some of those who read his statement were left with a feeling of shock after he proceeded to compare his experience to that of the late and revered martyr Nelson Mandela.

Cosby revealed to Page Six — a publication he has remained in contact with all throughout his trials — that he is channeling the spirit of Mandela as he prepares to survive his possible incarceration.

"I think back to the time when Camille and I went to visit Nelson Mandela in South Africa," he said.  "He was a free man, but I remember when we met him at Robben Island where he had been in a prison for all of those years. I sat in that cell where he lived, and I saw how he lived... what he had to eat to live and what he went through. So, if they send me to that place, then that's what they will do, and I will have to go there."

The comedian's loose and arguably flighty comparison to the apartheid political prisoner quickly enraged critics who took to Twitter to express their thoughts on his words.
