Obama Picks Christian Conservative for Inaugural Prayer

President-elect Barack Obama has picked an evangelical minister, opposed to same-sex marriage, to deliver the invocation at his inauguration. Rick Warren, the pastor of Saddleback Church in California was a staunch supporter of Proposition 8.

In 2006, while Obama was still a long-shot presidential hopeful, he spoke at Saddleback Church.

Joe Solomonese, the president of the Human Rights Campaign, described the selection of Warren as a "genuine blow" to gays and their supporters.

According to Politico.com, Warren's selection may also anger conservatives who object to Warren's more liberal views on what the government needs to do to fight poverty.

At his swearing-in, the President-elect plans to use his full legal name: Barack Hussein Obama.
