President Trump Upholds His Promise of Barring Security Clearances From Alvin Bragg, Letitia James and More
President Donald Trump has kept his promise to go after political leaders who’ve taken a stand against him.
On Monday, March 10, Director of Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced that security clearances for classified information would be revoked from New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, among others, including 51 individuals who signed Hunter Biden’s laptop letter.
Bragg and James, both Democrats, have separately pursued legal action against Trump. Last May, a New York jury convicted Trump on 34 counts of falsifying records related to hush money being issued to adult entertainer Stormy Daniels in a lawsuit prosecuted by Bragg. Prosecutors claimed that Trump concealed documents of him and Daniels allegedly having a sexual encounter one decade before he first took office in 2016.
One year before Trump’s conviction, James’ office obtained a civil judgment that held the twice-impeached president responsible for his fraud and ordered that he reimburse New York State for more than $464 million. While Trump’s attorney, John Sauer, requested that the lawsuit be dropped, James refused and backed a collection proceeding of $114,000 daily until he and his co-defendants paid the full amount.
President Trump publicized his intention to withdraw security clearances following his inauguration in January, which James scoffed at. “What security clearance?” a spokesperson for James asked. “Anyway, this is just another attempt to distract from the real work the Attorney General is doing to defend the rights of New Yorkers and all Americans.”
