Report: Chris Brown to Perform at the Grammys

Sources say Chris Brown will make his first appearance at the Grammy Awards since 2009.

Reports surfaced from the Associated Press today that Chris Brown will take the stage at the Grammys on Sunday, returning as a participant in the event for the first time in three years. Brown was last asked to perform at the venerated awards ceremony in 2009, but that day became embroiled in an infamous physical confrontation with then-girlfriend Rihanna, causing both of them to back out. Brown, who later pleaded guilty to felony assault, is still serving a five-year probation sentence for that incident.
Three years later, however, the 22-year-old pop star's career has largely bounced back, with his latest album F.A.M.E. nominated for three Grammy awards, including best R&B album.
In something of an echo of 2009, Rihanna is also scheduled to take the stage at this year's Grammys, having earned four nominations of her own. Previously, a restraining order had kept Brown and Rihanna from attending the same awards shows, but Rihanna decided to lift that ban early last year.
The 54th annual Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 7 at 8:00 PM ET on CBS.
