Fabolous Says Twitter is "the Drunk Uncle of My Personality"

To put it bluntly, rap fans thought Fabolous had no personality until he joined Twitter. Sure, the Brooklyn MC's swag came out whenever delivering punchlines, but the general consensus is that Fab lacked the charisma to take his career to a higher level.

"I am kinda like, if I don’t really know people I am a little passive and a little quiet and you know most of my friends they know a different side of me, so I guess that’s what kinda Twitter gets to see a little bit, things that I would say around my friends and joke around with," Fab told BET.com. "I probably wouldn’t do to just the average person that I don’t know. Twitter, I always say is the drunk uncle of my personality, because I say some stuff sometimes that, you know that drunk uncle at the Thanksgiving table, he starts rambling on about, that he shouldn’t have said so sometimes I do that."

"But sometimes I'm passive on Twitter too," he continued. "I have days where I don’t go on sometimes, sometimes I need a break, sometimes I just give my random thoughts on things, sometimes it’s just motivational tweets. It’s just different points of where my personality goes and is, you know, it’s not just about cracking on somebody. I think I'm more famous for that, but that’s not what I’m all about."

Fab has not only used Twitter to interact with his fans, he's used the social networking site as a promotional tool. But while he's now up to over 600,000 followers, there's no telling how many of them will buy his next project when it drops.

"I think Twitter is great for showing your personality and just your random thoughts and dropping a jewel on your listeners, fans and followers," he explained. "Also keeping them in tune to what you got going on promotion- wise. I think it can be helpful towards when you’re dropping a project to be able to give out the information that you’d like your followers to receive. I think that along with your actual personality and certain things you like to say, I think it’s good for that. I don’t know if it translates into actual sales, but I think it does if the awareness is there.
