Farewell!: Issa Rae And Our Faves From 'Insecure' Grace The Cover Of 'Entertainment Weekly' Rocking Colorful Furs

See the magazine photo that's breaking the internet!

Black celebrities are continuing to grace of the covers of magazines. We saw how Black girl magic took over in 2019 and 2020, well, in 2021 these publishers are keeping the same energy.

According to Fashionista, diversity was up in 2018 17% from 2017 — a record-breaking jump since the industry site began keeping track five years ago. Fashionista counted the domestic newsstand editions of nine print magazines and found that in total, 62 out of the 128 covers counted starred Black or brown women (including those who identify as mixed race and of Latin or Hispanic descent). Talk about sprinkling our magic!

Of course much of this increase is due to the ceiling-shattering number of Black women who covered the highly anticipated September issues: 54.5% of September’s covers starred people of color, a 32.3% increase from the year before.

Having Black women on these covers isn't only special, but it’s monumental in 2021. So, this is just a reminder that Black entertainers shouldn’t go unrecognized.

Take a look at all the magic below:

  • The Cast Of Insecure

Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, and Jai Ellis grace the latest digital cover of 'Entertainment Weekly.' As we gear up to say farewell to one of our favorite shows, the Insecure cast rock colorful furs and big smiles on the set of their shoot. "It felt like we finished running a marathon, and we carried each other through that in so many ways," says Rae. "There's just so much love in front of the camera, behind the camera. It just felt great."

After five seasons it's bittersweet for us to say goodbye. Insecure premieres on HBO this Sunday, at 9 pm ET.

"I’m just always thinking about work,” Rae tells the publication. “I was always like this. That’s Capricorn shit. Workaholic sh*t.”
