New documentary chronicles the varied artists in BK

The first five minutes from writer and filmmaker Nelson George’s new film has been released. A feature-length documentary, Brooklyn Boheme is a collaborative effort between the New York-born George and Diane Paragus.

Shadow and Act confirms that the movie is currently in post-production. The Fort Greene/Clinton Hill-centered documentary is described as one that “gives a first-hand account of this vibrant African-American artistic community that includes the great Spike Lee, Chris Rock, Branford Marsalis, Rosie Perez, Saul Williams, Lorna Simpson just to name a few, and follows the rise of a new kind of African-American artist, the "Brooklyn Boheme."
