Transformers: The Last Knight, the latest from the monster franchise, is now playing in theaters and one of its newest stars, Jerrod Carmichael, who plays Jimmy in the film, is speaking out on his experience as a newbie in the franchise and if he is set to be the next Denzel Washington.
The actor/comedian is known mostly for his role in his hit NBC sitcom The Carmichael Show and his controversial sense of humor. However, translating that style for an action-based setting called for a different approach.
"With comedy, with something like this, you have to find a way to try and be funny for an international audience," he said. "There's a specific sense of humor for the show, and stand-up is a different thing, but when you're thinking about jokes in Transformers, you have to consider Germany and Japan and Mexico and all these places."
So, what does this mean for the comedian-turned-actor? Is he about to be the next Denzel? He says there will never be another.
"It's Denzel! I like just trying new stuff," he said. "Again, this has been such a big learning experience and it's such a fun movie. It's something my nephew can watch."
Transformers: The Last Knight is currently in theaters everywhere.
