Horrific Details Emerge About The Shield Actor Who Murdered His Wife

Prosecutors believe he did something terrible right before pulling the trigger.

Michael Jace, who played a police officer on the FX series The Shield, is charged with killing his wife, April, back in May 2014. Now more details on the case have emerged, with prosecutors saying he taunted her before pulling the trigger.

According to the LA Times, he became obsessed with the thought that April wanted another man. Officials say the actor even waited with a gun in tow for her to come home, then shot her once in the back and again in her legs while their toddler sons watched.

The older of their two sons, age 8, was set to testify after his mother's murder, saying his father said, "You like to run so much. Why don't you try running to heaven?"

While the defense claimed Michael Jace admitted to murdering April at their Hyde Park residence, he reportedly said the claims that it was premeditated are all false. He urged the jury to question the prosecution's case, saying there would be first-hand evidence as to what he was thinking.

April's mother, Kay Henry, testified to an eerie text message she said the actor sent her on May 19, 2014. She said it read, "Come to the house. I shot April."

Among the slew of text messages that were scheduled to be viewed during the trial, prosecutors say some of them showed that April wanted a divorce while Michael claimed to want a wife "committed to God," but that's not what he got.

Prosecutors also say Michael told police that April attacked him first: "She lunged at me," he said. "I pushed, she spun, I shot her in the legs after she fell down."
