Charlize Theron was spotted out and about with her 4-year-old son, Jackson, whom she adopted from South Africa. While some may see the photos as the two having some quality mother-son time, others — specifically the Twitterverse — seem to be bothered by the fact that Jackson, a young boy, was dressed as Elsa from Frozen.
Jackson, while out with his A-list mom, was wearing a dress and a hat with Elsa's signature long platinum blonde braid attached.
Shortly after the picture made its way to the internet, Twitter trolls began slamming the actress, questioning her parenting skills and "allowing" her son to dress like a Disney princess, with some even going as far as calling her condoning Jackson's wardrobe "degrading." Take a look at some of the reactions, below:
Is @CharlizeAfrica crazy?? What kind of parent does this to a child?? Why would you adopt this young black boy and then degrade him??— Lesboja78 (@lesboja1978) August 24, 2016
@CharlizeAfrica this is a lil black boy, not a lil white girl with blonde hair. U need ur ass kicked 4 this— Bridget McDonald (@marqbrit) August 24, 2016
@CharlizeAfrica: ARE YOU REALLY PARADING YOUR AA ADOPTED SON AROUND IN A DRESS??????????— LizM. (@SmartChicksRule) August 23, 2016
There is some hope for humanity, after all, as not everyone seemed up in arms with little Jackson's choice of attire. Some even went on to explain that gender nonconformity is just something that Black men unfortunately don't have the luxury of embracing:
how exactly is it racist for charlize theron to allow her son to dress up as Elsa from Frozen? he's a child?? i'm really curious.— Zeba Blay (@zblay) August 25, 2016
The tweets regarding Charlize Theron's son dressing up as Elsa from frozen are disgusting, small minded and verging on homo/transphobic.— LEON/CÉ (@LXONR) August 24, 2016
