Marlon Wayans Thinks He’s ‘Too Black’ for Primetime

The comedian had to address one thing.

Marlon Wayans has been in talks to replace Nick Cannon after the comedian stepped away from his role as host of America's Got Talent, but it seems as if the actor/comic doesn't think he would be the best fit as, like Cannon, he's not willing to dilute his Blackness.

After hearing that he was being considered, Wayans says he was flattered but has the same concerns as Cannon did.

"It's kind of weird," he said. "'Cause Nick left, and to replace him... Sometimes people actually call me Nick Cannon. They're really trying to save on wardrobe. Let's get a brother to fit in his suits."

While he said he was grateful to be considered for the opportunity, Wayans said he has his own projects in the works.

"I've got my own show on NBC called Marlon," he said. "So, I'm doing aight. So if that opportunity came, I wouldn't think it would be a great match for the show. But the reality of it is I'm really looking forward to promoting Marlon, so I don't really know what's going on with AGT. It's a beast of a brand... I don't know if I can hold my tongue, though."

As far as Cannon's claims that the show consciously tried to tame his "Blackness," Wayans had this to say: "I'm like, 'If they wanted you to be less Black, I don't know if they want to holla at me. Unless y'all getting Paul Mooney to host Sesame Street.'"
