Social media filled him in on the difference.

Terry Crews wants answers for a controversial question that he publicly asked via Instagram, and it's really getting under a lot of people's skin.

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star took to the social media app to ask, "Why is it considered perfectly fine to be transgender, but deemed totally unacceptable to be TRANSRACIAL?"

Take a look at the post below:

Watch the actor speak about addiction in the BET Breaks video, above.

  • With many assuming the question was sparked from the 2015 debate when former NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal claimed to be "transracial," fans of the actor took to Twitter to share their opinions.

Adding a bit more context to his words, Crews wrote in the comments section below the post, "All of my children have a white grandfather. Why can't I say they're white?"

Some users took the time to enlighten the actor on what the many differences between transgender and "transracial" are, while others simply had no time to do anything but extend pity and disappointment.
