Welcome to BET.com's 12 Days of Pride series where, with the help of seasoned drag queen and RuPaul's Drag Race alum Shangela Laquifa Wadley, we break down 12 standout reasons why LGBT Pride is to be celebrated, especially within the Black community.

In the third installment of the series, we celebrate artists who are out and proud in the world of hip-hop.

Shangela discusses the once taboo topic of being out of the closet in the hyper-masculine music genre. Highlighting acts like Frank Ocean, Young M.A., iLoveMakonnen and Taylor Bennett, the drag queen made a point to show that times are changing in hip-hop with the genre showing signs of progression and inclusivity.

With these acts getting the ball rolling, here's to more following suit towards living in their truths.
