The latest installment of 12 Days of Pride centers around James Baldwin: a figure who made it his life mission to fight for equality for Black and brown men and women of color, specifically within the LGBT community.

"Now the great thing about celebrating LGBT Pride Month and the 12 Days of Pride is that both you and I get to learn so much about some really great community leaders and activists that we may not have known about. Case in point, Mr. James Baldwin," Shangela begins. "James Baldwin was a writer as well as a civil rights leader. He had an out loud and proud, very in your face attitude, and James didn't mind letting you know what was going on."

From his unapologetically bold voice in fighting for what he believed in to his life now being immortalized in film through the Oscar-nominated documentary I Am Not Your Negro, Baldwin left a legacy that will always be cherished.

See what else Shangela has to say about Mr. Baldwin with 12 Days of Pride, above.
