The 2017 Primetime Emmy Awards proved to be one of the best and most history-making shows in recent memory. However, things took a turn when the band rudely cut off Sterling K. Brown in the middle of his rousing acceptance speech for one of the biggest awards of the night: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

What was even more upsetting, however, was the fact that they allowed Nicole Kidman to express her "thank yous" for much longer without the interruption of a single violin string.

After becoming the first Black actor in 19 years to win in the Lead Actor category, for playing Randall Pearson on the hit NBC drama This Is Us, Brown took to the stage to share some thoughtful words of gratitude. However, just when he was getting to the meat of his speech, someone behind-the-scenes decided it would be appropriate to play him off. Neither the audience in the theater, nor folks watching and tweeting along from home, were having it.

One viewer even pointed out that Brown's speech was not even that lengthy — he spoke for 1:57, before being interrupted — as another winner of the night, Big Little Lies star Nicole Kidman, spoke for 2:45 without being nudged to "speed it up," even once.

Bothered by the unfair situation, the crowd rose to their feet as Brown refused to leave the stage until he got all of his words out. The producers, however, rudely panned away from his face and switched to commercial break.
