Sometimes real life and what’s depicted on television can intertwine. Just site any show about political scandal and our current White House for precedent.
It’s also becoming real for Meghan Markle. According to Deadline, Trevor Engelson, her ex-husband, is producing a currently untitled show that he and his former wife are quite familiar with.
Engleson’s show is reportedly based on his relationship with Markle and her relationship with Prince Harry.
According to the show’s description, “Divorce is hard. Sharing custody is harder. Sharing custody with the British Royal family when your wife marries a prince, in the unforgiving spotlight of London’s tabloid media, is next level.”
Apparently, the idea for the based on a true story program came during a discussion between Engelson and Dan Farah, one of the show’s main producers. They imagined what it would be like if the former couple had children and potentially had to share custody and all drama with the royal family.
Markle’s representation has not yet publicly spoken about the show. Of course, the producers wanted to reassure that what they’re working on isn’t based on Markle or Engelson, who don’t have kids together. They also claim she has no involvement in the project, which is kind of obvious.
Engelson and Markle married in 2013, separated that same year and officially divorced in 2014. Markle met Prince Harry in July 2016 and their relationship was revealed later that year.
