Although R&B crooner Tyrese has been clowned on Twitter for everything from his unsolicited advice for Black women to his new feud with Fast & Furious co-star Dwayne Johnson, the reaction to his latest social media appearance is quite different from the usual.
Earlier today, Tyrese broke out into tears while discussing his pending child custody case filed against him by his ex-wife, Norma Gibson on Facebook. In the lengthy video, he cried, “I’ve been away from my baby for two months. I just want my baby and no one’s listening cause no one’s in the courtroom.”
He went on to call out his “millionaire” and “billionaire” friends for not standing by him in the midst of his custody trial and also revealed that he had no plans to sign on to the last two Fast & Furious films if Johnson was involved.
Tyrese’s video went viral drawing a slew of responses, many from people empathizing and expressing their concern for his mental health.

Everyone that’s laughing at Tyrese should really stop and realize that everything isn’t a joke. He needs help, clearly.— CHIKA (@oranicuhh) November 1, 2017
All JOKES aside, I pray Tyrese gets help. We ignore mental illness so much in the Black community. It gets written off as "he just crazy".— Mr. Couture ⚜️ (@MrCouture) November 1, 2017

It's funny how we say if someone is depressed or going through something they must talk & when they reach out or breakdown we laugh😒 #Tyrese— Mbaliyezwe Ndlela (@mbali_ndlela) November 1, 2017
Tyrese’s video was uploaded several hours before he appeared at a court hearing over custody of his 10-year-old daughter, Shayla. His ex-wife, Norma Gibson, was granted a restraining order after accusing the singer of physically abusing their daughter. Tyrese, who flat out denies the claims of abuse, says he hasn’t seen his daughter in at least two months.
