Wait...It Sounds Like Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Is Actually Serious About Running For President In 2020

What the hell is going on?

Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Al Franken have all been arguably good at points in their political career as actors-turned lawmakers and heads of state.

Donald Trump on the other hand? Nah. And with Franken’s latest transgressions, we’re not exactly excited to see a Democratic actor as a politician either.

Dwayne Johnson doesn’t seem to care though and is apparently seriously considering running for president in 2020. Back in May, The Rock discussed a possible 2020 run in a profile for GQ Magazine and says it’s a possibility. Even with the hint, I think we all kind of put him in the Kanye West basket – a good story but probably not going to happen.

Well, Johnson isn’t wavering from his original interest. In an interview with Instyle Magazine, he was again asked about a presidential run and he again reiterated his seriousness on the matter.

“This whole thing started with a piece in The Washington Post about a year and a half, two years ago,” he said. “And then, when it started to pick up and got to the point where it was just impossible to ignore, I said, ‘Of course I would consider a run.’ So where we’re at right now is just quietly observing everything happening on the political landscape, and when the next election comes along … I will be watching very intently.”

The Rock even seemed to have a campaign slogan ready for a potential run: “More poise, less noise.” Could that be a dig at Donald Trump?

It should be noted that Dwayne Johnson did not endorse either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump in the May GQ interview. Read the full Instyle Magazine interview here.
