Hannibal Buress was arrested early this morning (December 10) and people are starting to wonder why he was detained at all.
As previously reported, the actor/comedian was arrested in Miami for “trespassing” however now the police are saying it was for “disorderly intoxication.”
One of the people spearheading the effort to get to the bottom of what happened is documentarian and Miami resident Billy Corben.
First @MiamiPD said they arrested @HannibalBuress for "trespassing." Now they say "disorderly intoxication." Sounds more like "being a loud black guy" to me. https://t.co/evvTtp25Lk #ArtBasel pic.twitter.com/CFlh4WAjlb— Billy Corben (@BillyCorben) December 10, 2017
Then questions came up about Miami police's procedures when it comes to releasing documents tied to arrests made over the weekend.
Miami police won't release arrest report for @hannibalburess - saying public-records request must be made "during regular business hours." That's a change in policy. They used to regularly release a-forms on weekends https://t.co/IHvcAkFxCF— David Ovalle (@DavidOvalle305) December 10, 2017
Allegedly, what could've been settled peacefully seemed to be instead ratcheted up by the cops.
UPDATE: While believed to be drunk, Buress walked up to a Miami cop and asked him to call him an Uber, a source says. The officer said no and told him to leave the area. Buress allegedly wouldn’t leave and yelled profanities. Cops took him to jail.— Andy Slater (@AndySlater) December 10, 2017
And more questions and speculation followed.
If it's a good arrest, then release the report. Unless, of course, they need time to......"amend" it......?— Billy Corben (@BillyCorben) December 10, 2017
Eventually, the Miami PD did reply with the offical cause of arrest...
Hello Billy, Mr. Buress was arrested for disorderly intoxication, on December 9, 2017, at approximately 10:30 p.m.— Miami PD (@MiamiPD) December 10, 2017
