Get Out was one of 2017’s most groundbreaking films. Aside from making history as the highest grossing debut film based on an original screenplay, the satirical thriller has become a cultural staple. So much so, that an NAACP Image Award winning author took to Twitter chronicling her father’s first time tuning in.

Tananarive Due began with her father posing hilarious questions about the film’s opening scene. She continued with her dad’s take on some of the film’s racial undertones. Her thread also included some hysterical quotes from her dad that mirrored tons of commentary from social media. Due closed by dishing on the inspo behind her decision to tweet her dad’s first time tuning in to Get Out.
