Jordan Peele is currently riding high off of his recent 2018 Oscar nominations for his work on his majorly successful film, Get Out. However, after making his directorial debut with the horror thriller, he was offered a questionable and frankly offensive role that pushed him to make a decision that would change the trajectory of his career for good.

According to Complex, while accepting the First-Time Director honors at the DGA Awards this past Saturday night, Peele explained that The Emoji Movie offered him the role of Poop, causing him to reevaluate the direction he wanted to take in his career.

"The Emoji Movie actually helped me quit acting," he said. I was offered the role of Poop. This is true. I would not make this up."

He added that after his manager told him the news, his first reaction was, "That's f****d up."

The following day, once his manager told him they had already given the role to Sir Patrick Stewart after he asked how much the gig would pay, he said, "I was like, 'F**k this.'"

He explained that he was inspired to share this story after the show's host, Judd Apatow, delivered a monologue which included this comedic yet fitting evaluation of Hollywood: "When you have women directors you get Lady Bird, Mudbound, and Wonder Woman. When you have male directors, you get The Emoji Movie, with a character who is a literal piece of s**t."

It appears as Peele's decision has paid off incredibly as he's only continued to win since the release of Get Out, snagging four Oscar nominations, overall, for the film. Meanwhile, The Emoji Movie has been plagued with overwhelmingly negative reviews with many dubbing it an absolute waste of time.
