Props To Her: Kim Kardashian Is Getting A Slow Clap From Black Twitter Thanks To This Bold Move

Literally nobody saw this coming.

Kim Kardashian, for once, isn’t promoting a concealer or a new line of clothes. Instead, she’s using her name to bring attention to something of great importance: prison reform.

62-year-old Alice Marie Johnson is currently over two decades into a life sentence for a nonviolent drug offense. It was her first offense.

Previously, it was reported that Kardashian was attempting to get a presidential pardon for Johnson, but now she’s opening up about why she’s so passionate about the case. During an interview with Mic, she explained.

“I think that she really deserves a second chance at life,” she said. "If you think about a decision that you’ve made in your life and you get life without the possibility of parole for your first-time nonviolent offense, there’s just something so wrong with that.”

Apparently it was a Mic video from last year about the case that caught her attention. At the time, she tweeted about it.

"Where I’m at in my life right now, just like, to go and spend my money buying material things just doesn’t satisfy me the way that it used to,” Kim said, acknowledging her inaction on social issues in the past. “To save someone’s life...that would make [my] heart fuller."

Apparently, Johnson’s fate not lies at the desk of President Trump. Kim’s reportedly hired a legal team to work on the matter and has also reached out to Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. It’s something she says that has gotten her full attention.

"I’ve been in communication with the White House and trying to bring her case to the president’s desk and figure out how we can get her out," she added. "That’s such a huge step from where we started with that not even being on their radar."

Black Twitter was appreciative of all of this, but let’s not act like Kim’s been the only one working on Johnson’s case. Still, they gave her due props.
