Get ready to see Colin Kaepernick's life story come to life on the small screen.

To ensure that the iconic athlete and activist's story is told correctly, famed director Ava DuVernary is spearheading a project about him, centering around his high school life.

While the news still seems to be in the rumor mill, it first appeared in a Vanity Fair article which outlined behind-the-scenes details about several Hollywood showrunners, with DuVernay being one of them. The project is said to arrive in the format of a comedy sitcom.

While the A Wrinkle In Time director is yet to publicly comment on the project, her apparent excitement on sharing Kaepernick's story comes as no surprise as she's sung his praises in the past.

"I think his actions have been inspiring to so many people," she told GQ in 2017. "I see what he's done as art. I believe that art is seeing the world that doesn't exist. You know a lot of people excel at creativity — making TV, movies, painting, writing books — but you can be an artist in your own life. Civil-rights activists are artists. Athletes are artists. People who imagine something that is not there."

A release date or working title is yet to be attached to the reportedly upcoming project. Are you as excited for this as we are?
