A celebratory post of his newborn son's recent milestone turned into an intense social media debate for actor and photographer Lance Gross.
The father of two posted an adorable picture of his son Lorin and captioned it, "LL Kool G my little man's color is comin' in nicely! I'm hyped!"
Some fans took offense to Gross' comments and accused the proud papa of being a colorist. One commenter wrote, "Black men really hate dark skin black women but use their privilege to play victim when they are called out on colorism."
After getting into a dispute with another commenter, one of Gross' followers wrote, "He's clearly color struck. pointing it out doesn't make me ignorant."
With tons of conversation about about colorism and self-hate filling his comment section, Lance Gross posted a lengthy message in response to his haters. "I love me more than anyone else ever could. I won't argue with fools but I'm down to inform the misinformed to a certain extent before I stop giving a s**t. I am a proud BLACK man that loves my African-American wife and that will remain."
Closing with some insight for those with questions about his motives, Gross added, "While I owe no explanation I do feel the need to say this colorism topic is setting us back more than you realize. (Especially on social media.) Colorism exists, yes but y'all not about to just label every dark skin Black man who is in a relationship with someone lighter complexion under that bus. I chose love not skin tone."
Despite his stance, the debate over Lance Gross and colorism continued on Twitter.

Man @LanceGross bump them... You know good and well you can’t please miserable people .. Your wife is black IF they can’t love or accept that then ole well .. If your children come out GREEN it’s none of their business or their BILL pic.twitter.com/3s1P1qZ382— SC: K.Rose (@KoldRose) August 2, 2018
Y’all really in Lance Gross mentions over him being happy about his son’s dark skin complexion aka him supporting the notion that dark skin is lit aka him amping his son all because his wife is mixed and light skin. Y’all different and weird. pic.twitter.com/RxlTcWTCOL— Maxamillion (@RegalBasil) August 2, 2018
lol @lancegross is such a colorstruck dumb self-hating kneegrow. This is the dumbest caption ever. If you wanted to have a child with your full ACTUAL dark skinT complexion then you wouldn't have procreated with an extra light skinT MIXED race woman. @ChrissiesWay pic.twitter.com/UbizigWqm2— Sara (@Saaaa_hot) August 2, 2018
@Lancegross is triggered because the truth hurts. "This colorism topic is setting us back" AKA I don't have the range. "I love my African American wife", she's MIXED race. Not black. And yes you BEEN colorstruck AND self-hating @ChrissiesWay @Chantaljs13 pic.twitter.com/3avivFdHGL— Sara (@Saaaa_hot) August 2, 2018
