LaLa Milan remains a longstanding OG in the now coveted viral social media culture, and her latest offering proves that she only plans on taking her brand to new heights.

While the comedienne/social media influencer has produced several virally recognized bits over the years, her newest project — reminiscent of R. Kelly's Trapped in the Closet series — sees her spit-shine her work for a polished and crystal clear product. Recently, we spoke with LaLa and got exclusive details on how it all came to be.

Give us a brief synopsis of your Trapped in the Closet parody:
Pretty much, I am going through it in there, just like the original. I literally was dating a guy and we lived together and I found out something that I did not want to know — probably every girl’s worst nightmare — but it has a plot twist to it.

Some may say that it was a bold move doing such a project in light of the current climate and R. Kelly’s present reputation. What made you overlook these criticisms and decide to go through with it, anyway?
You can never downplay somebody’s masterpiece in the midst of their current situation. At the end of the day, he’s genius, musically, and that’s what I did — the musical aspect, nothing else. So, that song is going to be a hit, regardless.

How long did it take to shoot this?
The video shoot lasted about 10 hours.

What does your creative process consist of?
I literally just listened to it over and over and just wrote, wrote, wrote, wrote, wrote, and then was like, “OK, let’s go and make the visual happen.”

Who is your co-star in the video?
My co-star is Chrystian. He’s also the singer in the video.

How was it working with him?
He’s nothing less than amazing [to] work with. I’ve worked with him on other occasions. Always a pleasure.

Are there any shockers viewers may see in this parody?
You’ll just have to tune in. (laughs)

Why now? Why this particular timing for this parody?
My mind is all over the place, honestly, and I feel like it was just one of those things where I was like, “You know what? Let me touch a classic,” and that one came to mind.

In this current viral-hungry culture, how and why do you think you’ve stood the test of time?

I boss as time goes on. Literally, it’s just about making sure that I stay current, and that’s really what it’s about.

What is your secret to being a viral sensation?
Being quick.

What more can we expect from LaLa Milan in the coming months?
TV, acting, and the unexpected.
