Gabrielle Union Is Near Tears Over The Backlash She Got For This Hospital Pic Following Her Daughter’s Birth

The couple are opening up to Oprah.

Gabrielle Union has been very open about with her ongoing complications with pregnancy after having “eight or nine miscarriages,” which she revealed in her 2017 autobiography, We're Going to Need More Wine.

“For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant — I've either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle,” she shared in the book.

After dealing with pregnancy struggles, the 46-year-old actress recently opened up to Oprah Winfrey in an interview about why she and her husband, Dwayne Wade choose to have their child via surrogate, along with her experience of being a first-time mom.

In the newly released video clip to promote OWN’s all-new special, Oprah at Home with Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade & Their New Baby, the new mother shared the excitement she felt when her daughter Kaavia James was welcomed to the world on Nov. 7.

“You’re finally a mother at 46,” Oprah stated.

“Yeah,” Gabrielle simply replied with joy.

After shocking their fans with news that they had a surrogate, the Wades were sadly met with backlash on social media after Gabrielle posted this photo resting in a hospital bed with her husband.

“I’m already getting choked up. It’s still hard to let go,” the Being Mary Jane actress admitted referring to the sadness she experienced from not being able to carry her own child.

“Everyone started talking about why she acting like she just had a baby,” Dwayne mentions.

“You want to explain that?” Oprah asked.
