  • The actress opened up about how her mother's reaction to the couple referring to each other as "life partners" instead of "husband" and "wife." "She was like, ‘Well, why don’t you guys just divorce," Smith explained.

Despite her mother's questions, Smith, who's been married since 1997, explained why she'd never consider divorce an option. "One of the ideas for me is that we’ve built such a beautiful community, we’ve built such a beautiful family… we do well together. Breaking that group and community up for me? It’s just never an option."

Sharing the personal things that would prevent her from legally ending her marriage, Smith added, " For me, personally, I’m not mature enough to have a divorce. I’m just not. I don’t think I would ever be mature enough. When you have to start going in, breaking up assets … that’s when the red table turns upside down, and it won’t be red no more!”

Over the summer, Will Smith sent social media into a frenzy when he announced their decision to forgo the traditional titles brought on by marriage. "We don't even say we're married anymore. We refer to ourselves as life partners, where you get into the space where you realize you are lliterally with somebody for the rest of your life," he revealed.

"[There are] no deal breakers. There's nothing she could do ever nothing that would break our relationship. She has my support 'til death and it feels so good to get into that space," the proud father of three proclaimed.
