Here's How Mahershala Ali Reacted When This Hollywood Legend Poured Alcohol On His Head At The Golden Globes
Mahershala Ali had quite a memorable night at last Sunday's 2019 Golden Globe Awards.
While the night had its highs, with him taking home his first win, it also had one particular low that included a veteran actor pouring a drink on his head.
The actor, who took home the Best Supporting Actor trophy for his performance in Green Book, recently stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show to chop it up about his big win.
While there, however, he shared a story about his unexpected run-in with former Saturday Night Live star and Hollywood icon Bill Murray at the A-list event that left viewers in shock.
Ali recalled that the two of them were backstage at the Beverly Hills Hotel with him discussing Green Book's win in the category for Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) alongside the film's director, Peter Farrelly, and his co-stars Viggo Mortensen and Linda Cardellini.
Out of nowhere, he explained, Murray, who presented at the show, then began spilling alcohol on their heads, one by one. The actor, however, did mention that Murray's intentions likely were pure.
"Bill was toasting us," he told DeGeneres. "Bill toasted his glass on Viggo's head, Linda's head, and then toasts on my head and vodka spills all over my face and is running down into my eyes and in my mouth. And I'm doing the whole interview with an eye closed."
Ali noted, during the sit-down, that he does not drink.
"Vodka in the eye... it felt like hot acid rolling down my face," he added.
So, how'd he react? While he didn't appreciate the gesture that much, he didn't let it bother him.
"Hey, it's Bill Murray," he said with a laugh.
