Jordan Peele's Us is about to hit theaters on March 22. The first screenings took place this weekend and the reviews are in — Peele did it again.
Directed and written by Peele, the film, which is about a family confronted by a group of doppelgängers, stars Lupita Nyong'o and Winston Duke.
Peele said about the film when the trailer dropped on Christmas, “I definitely wanted to do a movie that started with this sense of invasion, this sense of the fear of other, the fear of the stranger from outside, which I think is a common fear in society these days, and then sort of force the characters to realize the invaders have their faces. I didn’t want to make just a home invasion, though I utilized that imagery. I wanted the sense of an adventure that was not necessarily a claustrophobic one — that’s a feeling that turns me off watching. I wanted to make this expansive, I wanted it to have themes of night and day.”

Jordan Peele's "Us" is a horror masterpiece. We are witnessing the birth of our modern day Hitchcock. 20 years from now we will ask one another what our favorite Peele film is & you will get 10/12 different answers. I have not, I repeat, have not been able to get #USMovie off my mind. So many themes, so many angles, So much to process...— valerie complex @ sxsw (@ValerieComplex) March 9, 2019
I don’t trust any of the reviews coming out bc its not a film you can process in a few hours. No way. pic.twitter.com/ptjcGw3vEr
Still thinking about the part in #USmovie when Lupita says she doesn’t do “talking” well while making an awkward gesture & Elisabeth Moss just says “I get that” and swigs her rosé and belittles her husband and shows Lupita nice photos in a magazine and ain’t that goals?— Joanna Robinson (@jowrotethis) March 9, 2019
