Tamar Braxton Responds To Backlash For Saying She’s ‘Too Drained’ To Attend Niece’s Funeral

She shares some wise words.

The Braxtons are publicly expressing their grief over their niece’s sudden death. Most of the famous siblings posted tributes to social media, but Tamar shared her feelings in a more direct way.

Tamar posted a video relaying her pain over the passing of Lauren Braxton and made a comment that sparked some backlash from her fans. During the video, a visibly exhausted Tamar said she’s “too drained” to attend her niece’s funeral. “I don’t have time to go to the funeral,” she said. “I’m still drained from that. It’s a lot.”

Before opening night of the Dungeon Tour in Chicago, where she joined Kandi Burruss, Tamar went on Instagram Live, telling her followers how drained she is over both the tragic death and the in-fighting within her family. She also claimed she has to promote “Braxton Family Values” but doesn’t feel right doing so when because of all the beef. “I ain’t here for all that arguing with my family right now,” she said.

  • After the IG Live session, many people isolated Tamar’s comment about being “too drained” to attend the funeral of her niece, and criticized her for it. Tamar responded by re-posting a philosophical statement by radio personality Toke Makinwa, advising people not to judge how others grieve death. She added her own caption, “And now you know the rest of the story.”

  • Lauren is the daughter of Tamar’s brother Michael Conrad. She reportedly died of a heart condition. She was only 24.

According to TMZ, law enforcement revealed to them that they received a 911 call at around noon on Monday (April 29) in connection to heart complications. Once they arrived, Lauren — known as LoLo by her close friends and family — was unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead by the paramedics.
