This Chicago Rapper Was Just Sentenced to 38 Years

Safe to say his rap career is probably over.

Chicago rapper Cdai has been sentenced to 38 years in prison after being convicted of first degree murder earlier this year, according to DNA Info.

The Savage Squad Records/OTF affiliate (born Courtney Early) received his sentence Monday (May 9) for his role in the 2014 murder of jitney cab driver Javan Boyd.

Along with fellow rapper RondoNumbaNine, Cdai murdered Boyd in February 2014 when the two approached his car. Prosecutors said the men asked if Boyd was from the neighborhood before opening fire on the vehicle. Boyd was pronounced dead two hours later after being taken to the hospital.

Prosecutors also claim Cdai and RondoNumbaNine were among a group of people looking to retaliate for a shooting that went on earlier in the day. The pair apparently left behind a slew of evidence, including fingerprints and Cdai’s cellphone. The incident was also captured by nearby surveillance.
