Muhammad Ali, the greatest athlete to possibly ever live, has recently passed, and now, word has surfaced on the time one of music's most revered icons, the late Prince, met him for the first time, and let's just say the Purple One couldn't contain his excitement.
Proving that his impact transcended far beyond the boxing ring, Muhammad Ali's first time meeting with Prince is everything you could hope it would be.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the American heroes met at a 1997 press conference held to promote the World Healing Honors, a benefit which aimed at raising money for charities that worked to eliminate bigotry and prejudice around the world.
Ali and Prince sat together on stage at the event and the singer showered the boxing legend with praise which he explained their first encounter.
"My friend called me a couple of days ago and asked me. He said, 'Muhammad wants you to...' and I said, 'Yes,'" he told reporters. "I didn't even let him finish. He could have said, 'Mow the lawn,' and I would have been down with it. Muhammad's my hero. He has been since I was a child. As you can see, he's such an inspiration to many people."
Incredibly touching for so many reasons. Muhammad Ali died on Friday, just more than one month after the legendary Prince passed away.
