Kanye West’s known to use Twitter as a sounding board for his beliefs, most of which are, uh, unique to say the least.
What’s always been unique though is his love for his mother, Donda West. Not only did she give birth to him, but Donda was crucial for his musical inspiration. It’s why she’s been mentioned in many of his songs over the years.
Yesterday (July 12) would’ve been her 67th birthday and, in honor of it, 'Ye took to Twitter and wrote out a heartfelt message. “NORI ASKED IF THE AIRPLANE COULD TAKE HER TO HEAVEN TO SEE YOU FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY,” he tweeted, accompanied by a pic of him and Donda. “I LOVE YOU MOM.”
The tweet was retweeted over 81,000 times and received over 247,000 likes. Donda West passed away in 2007 due to complications from multiple cosmetic surgeries. During a 2015 interview with Q Magazine, Kanye opened up about the death of his mother. "If I had never moved to L.A. she'd be alive," he explained. "I don't want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears."
RIP Donda and happy birthday!
