There’s a good chance your weekend has been soundtracked to the infectious “Timmy Turner” track Desiigner finally set free after weeks of people anxious for its release.
His highly-anticipated follow-up to “Panda” has thus far not disappointed, with countless fans referring to the banger as an instant “classic.”
While the general concept and lyrics behind the track are a bit mysterious, Desiigner sat down with AllDefDigital to discuss the "deeper meaning" behind the earworm and his inspiration for naming the song after the Fairly Oddparents character.
“Timmy Turner is me,” he explains, saying the famed Nickelodeon character is essentially his alter ego. “I was referring to myself, and I was saying that I was wishing for a burner. And when I said ‘she f***in’ for BET,’ I was referring to the girl that would do anything for the fame.”
He then goes on to share the song’s storyline was designed to express he’s well aware that asking for a burner (i.e. a hit single), much like asking for fame, could mean a person is ending up in hell.
The interview continues to discuss how he met Mike Dean, as well as his opinions on the current state of hip hop.
“There’s nothing but creativity flying through it,” the young rapper says. “New sounds are coming, more artists are coming… every day, the generation is building.”
