Behold, New Bars From Kendrick Lamar

Are his bars ever not dope?

Published August 9, 2016

It’s been a minute since we got something new from Kendrick Lamar. The last few months have been largely silent for the Compton rapper, so anything coming out that involves him becomes something to grasp onto.

K Dot, who’s released shoes already through Reebok, was the center of one of their latest ads. Within it, Kendrick spits a quick freestyle expressing his admiration for fashion and hip hop.

"By the time I started writing when I was thirteen, I knew from the jump that I wanted something that was original, something that was classic," he says in the ad before spitting a quick verse. "When you think about rhymes and style, you always want a classic feel," he continues after. "So my first introduction to a classic shoe was the moment I stepped in school and I said to myself I want to put something down on paper. I started writing. Everyone in the classroom was wearing Reebok classics."

After that, Lamar explained how he remains a “classic guy.” "Hip hop was more than just the music, it was part of the culture, it was part of having style, it was part of the whole graffiti and arts,” he said. “It was only right that I would wear the Reebok classics then. I still remain that classic guy and that's the reason why I'm wearing the shoes now."

While speaking, Kendrick Lamar is seen walking around the city. He’s also the object of a photoshoot, which he talks through as well. Check out Reebok’s latest ad with K Dot below.
