De La Soul and Usher Track Hollywood Dreams On 'Greyhounds'

The legendary hip hop/R&B combo get introspective on De La's latest single.

Fans of De La Soul have been waiting and waiting for the Long Island trio’s forthcoming album And the Anonymous Nobody or ATAN. The project was announced early last year as the group took to crowdfunding in order to put it out with the greatest amount of creative control.

Along the way the legendary hip-hop group dropped an EP literally called For Your Pain & Suffering to hold those starving over until their next official LP drop. Since June, De La has released singles for ATAN monthly and now return for a double dose in August with “Greyhounds.” Featuring a chilling Usher hook, the smooth, introspective track describes the emotional dreams of Hollywood fame that both excitedly begin and sadly end on a Greyhound bus.

“We were taking a break from recording to drive and get some food. Along the way we passed the Bus station and someone in the car in a tour guide voice said, ‘And to the left is the bus station where people come from everywhere to get their piece of Hollywood,’ Pos explains. “I immediately thought that would be a great song having the entry and departure point of the story be the Greyhound bus. A few weeks later music from the jam sessions presented itself as a perfect fit for that subject birthing the song.”

And the Anonymous Nobody is slated for release on August 26 via A.O.I. Records and Kobalt Label Services. De La Soul is slated to perform live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon just days before on August 22.
